Running Care: What is it for?

Did you know that every year nearly 1 runner out of 2 experiences an injury?

However, with better access to healthy best practices and simple prevention actions, this risk can be reduced by 40%!

Running Care is a class I medical device (93/42 / EEC) application 100% designed by health professionals that assists runners in prevention (advice), injury management (symptoms checker and self-management programs) and tele-advice.

 Our ambition: to help you keep only the pleasure and well-being aspects of running.

How is it different from other Running applications?

Running Care does not replace other running apps or sports watches but complements them by bringing health and medical expertise to your practice.

How were the health advice and programs prepared?

All contents of the application have been prepared by health professionals under the supervision of Dr Geoffrey Wandji, a specialized sports physician and co-founder of PREMEDIT.

Is the application available in other languages?

The application is available in French and English. We plan to offer it in other languages soon.

Security

Indication for use

Running-Care is a certified medical device for its self-management protocols and symptoms checker for running-related injuries.

Running-related injuries taken into account into Running care are localised in the following body parts:

  • Trunk (Back, Thorax, Belly, Lower-back)
  • Pelvis (Buttocks, Hip, Groin, Pubis)
  • Thighs (Hamstrings, Quads, Adductor)
  • Knees (anterior surface, internal surface, external surface)
  • Legs (Shin, Calf)
  • Feet (Achilles tendon, Foot arch, Ankle, Toes)

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

Use conditions 

  • Minimum age: To use Running Care, you must be 18 years old
  • Compatibility: Running Care works with all Android mobile phones with a version upper than 5. For IOS mobile phones, Running Care works with IOS versions that are upper than 11.0
  • Do not use Running Care in case of emergency: in case of alarming symptoms, contact  immediately an emergency service.
  • Do not use Running Care with an injury or a pathology non-related to running: if your pain is not related to your running activity, Running Care is not designed for you. We recommend you to  consult a health care professional.
  • Running Care does not substitute for professional medical advice: if you have any doubt about the management of your pain or if your symptoms are not improving, consult a health care professional.

Caution

Running Care has been created for the self-management of non-serious running-related injuries. If your injury is non-related to a running activity, we advise you to consult a health care professional.

Contraindication

Runnin Care must not be used by persons with a physical or mental disability that does not ensure the correct use of the device. 

Alarming symptoms

If you have the following symptoms, contact immediately an emergency service:

  • severe chest pain, located behind the breastbone, similar to pressure,

radiating to the mandible and the left arm,

  • dropping of the face, asymmetry of facial expressions, one-sided weakening

of muscle strength and numbness of the limbs, slurred speech, the most

intense headache ever felt, dizziness and blurred vision,

  • increasing breathing difficulties, shortness of breath, difficulty finishing

sentences due to breathing problems,

  • heavy bleeding that is difficult to stop, such as a nosebleed, gastrointestinal

bleeding, vaginal bleeding, bleeding due to injury,

  • serious injuries resulting from an accident, such as crushing, suspected bone

fracture,

  • changes in consciousness, loss of consciousness, seizure
  • sudden swelling of the eyes, lips, throat, or tongue

Accessories and medical devices referenced in Running Care   

Some equipments may be required to carry out a care program and are listed in each program. In case of use, always refer to the equipment’s instructions for use in addition to Running Care explanations. Clickable internet links give you some examples of the type of equipment which is needed. 

We designed our care programs with health professionals, however, if you consider that our explanations linked to the use of an equipment (accessories, sports equipment, medical device) are not enough detailed or differ from instructions for use or that you have doubt about the correct use, contact the Running Care medical team to receive more information before beginning the exercise.

Passwords 

Do not disclose to another person your Running Care account personal password. Running Care contains information about your personal health data.

Language

The application is in French and English.

If Running Care is not in a language that you master, or if you have doubt in a word translation, you can change the language of Running Care by changing the default language of your mobile phone. If some doubt remains or if you master neither English nor French, we advise you to stop using Running Care and consult a healthcare professional for your injury care. 

Technical problems

If you detect a problem with Running Care, including display or operating issues, please contact our technical support. According to the problem, you will be given instructions regarding the use of the application.

Updates  

The Running Care application is updated on a regular basis. We advise you to automatise these updates or to update Running Care on a regular basis to have the latest version. An irregular update can lead to a non-compatibility with the new version of Running Care or the persistency of corrected anomalies that have been corrected in new versions of Running Care

How to use Running Care?

Welcome to the first digital health application dedicated to Running.

100% designed by sports doctors and certified as a Class I medical device (93/42/EEC) for the symptoms check-up and self-management of running-related injuries, Running Care is the runner’s digital first-aid kit.

Launch the application by clicking on the Running Care icon :

  • Create your Running Care account
  • If you choose to use your email address, create a personal password with a minimum of 8 characters. Special characters are not accepted.
  • Do your medical check-up and verify the absence of contraindication for running.
  • With the Tips tab, read pieces of advice and health care articles about numerous subjects
  • With the Care tab, self-manage your pain and injuries at home thanks to symptoms checker and self-management programs
  • Activate the tele-advice function to receive a personalized answer to your health care questions from our running & health care experts.

Running Care stands by your side to answer each of your questions about running and helps you to fully live your passion for running from performance, pleasure or wellbeing perspective.

Do I need to start the application when I go running?

Absolutely not. The contents of Running Care are designed for a use between your running sessions.

What’s the difference between the free version and the paid version?

FREE VERSION: THE BEST OF SPORTS MEDICINE FOR RUNNERS.

In its free version, Running Care brings you health advice prepared, validated and regularly updated by professionals in sports medicine, science and psychology.

You can also carry out a symptoms check-up of your pain/injuries. If necessary, the application will assess whether you can manage them independently and will offer you the opportunity to test our self-management programs. In case of doubt or if the application recommends it to you, you will be invited to consult specialized health professionals.

PREMIUM: SELF ASSESS AND MANAGE YOUR PAIN / INJURIES WITH AUTONOMY

In its premium version, the application gives you access to more than 30 full self-management programs.

From symptoms check-up to physiotherapy, self-management and reathletisation, you can treat your pains and injuries in autonomy so that you can quickly and safely go back on running.

Care tab

I can’t locate the area where I feel a pain/injury.

Only body parts concerning running-related injuries can be selected.

If the selected body part does not match with your pain zone, we do not recommend continuing the symptoms check-up that risks to be biased.

You can also inform PREMEDIT thanks to the “I don’t find my pain area” button. This information will be statically analysed to improve the pain zone research.

I don’t understand the questionnaires.

I can’t find my injury.

If you do not validate any injury, a dialogue box “Help us to improve Running Care” will offer you the opportunity to explain your problem.

The proposed program does not seem to be related to my injury.

Sometimes, some exercises you have to do at the beginning of your program are not close by to the painful area.

However, if in doubt, we advise you to contact a health professional.

The pain is persistent. What can I do about it?

If in doubt, we recommend that you contact a health professional.

Can I contact the Running Care medical team directly?

A tele-advice service is available in Running Care and is accessible via diverse screens (Car tab, Health tab or at the end of the self-diagnosis survey).

Don’t hesitate to use the tele-advice function to have clarifications or personalized answers.

How can I stop a program of care?

Go to the “care” menu,

Click on the “Trash” icon in the upper right corner of the program you want to stop.

A window opens. Click on “Quit the program” to confirm.

I have two identical programs that overlap. Is this normal?

The application allows you to follow several programs at the same time.

However, we recommend that you only follow a maximum of two programs at the same time.

I’ve just completed my session of the day and I can’t access the next one. Why?

Self-management programs are organized for three sessions a week. 

You are free to manage your 3 sessions in any way, however, we recommend spacing them 48h out to optimize your care.  

Each week, 3 new sessions are unlocked.

I don’t understand the exercises.

If you meet difficulty with an exercise, you can contact us at this address feedback@running-care.com. Don’t forget to specify the name of the exercise or the video in question.

How do I know when a new article is available?

Running Care pushes notifications to keep you informed of new articles. 

How do I filter the categories of boards I’m interested in?

This feature will be available in a future version of the application.

Health tab

How can I change my answers to the medical check-up?

Go to the “Health” tab, Scroll to the “Health Data” section then click on “Medical check-up”

Click on the Pencil icon in the top right corner to update your medical check-up.

Profile

I forgot my password. What can I do?

If not already done, log out of Running Care:

  • Go to the “Settings” tab,
  • lick on “My account” and then “Log out”,
  • On the login screen, click on “Forgot Password”,

You will receive an email telling you the procedure to follow.

I can’t find my application or sports watch in the list provided by Running Care. What can I do?

We may not have developed the connector with your application or sports watch model yet.

We are working to ensure that Running Care is compatible with all of your favourite types of equipment.

How do I manage my Premium membership?

We invite you to manage your Premium subscription directly from your iTunes (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) account.

How do I delete my profile?

How do I uninstall the application?

With an Android mobile phone: 

Open the Play Store app on your device.

Open the Settings menu.

Tap on My apps & games.

Navigate to the Installed section.

Tap the app you want to remove. 

Tap Uninstall.

With an IOS mobile phone: 

Touch and hold the app.

Tap Remove App.

Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

Is my data secure?

At PREMEDIT, the security of your data is a top priority.

Your personal information collected via the Application is mainly used to deliver a personalized sports medicine coaching service aimed at injury prevention and self-management. We also carry out certain treatments and analyses aimed at refining the personalization experience.

The treatments on your data are GDPR compliant and their storage is ensured by an approved Personal Healthcare Data Hosting.
